端材と職人技術から生まれた。使う人が完成させる花器。

「Re-shibo」は、製造工程で役目を失いかけていたアルミ材を活用し、暮らしの中で繰り返し楽しめる花器として再生したオリジナルプロダクトです。

名称には、金属加工技術である「へら絞り」を再構築するという意味と、廃材から新しい価値を生み出すエコデザインへの挑戦を込めています。

製作には、職人が一枚の金属板を回転させながら立体成形する、へら絞りの技術を採用しています。使用できる端材の状態を一つずつ見極め、素材の個性を生かしながら加工することで、廃材を均一化するのではなく、それぞれの表情を魅力として残しました。

A Vase Born from Scrap Materials and Craftsmanship—Completed by the User

Re-shibo is an original product that gives aluminum materials on the verge of being discarded during the manufacturing process a new life as a vase that can be enjoyed and reimagined again and again in everyday settings.

The name reflects both the reconstruction of metal spinning, a traditional metalworking technique known as hera-shiboriin Japanese, and our commitment to eco-design—creating new value from materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Each piece is formed using metal spinning, in which a skilled craftsperson shapes a single sheet of metal into a three-dimensional form while it rotates. Every piece of usable scrap material is carefully assessed and processed according to its individual condition. Rather than standardizing or concealing the characteristics of the reclaimed material, the design preserves them as part of each product’s unique expression.

表面には専用の画材で自由に絵や文字を描くことができ、描き直すことも可能です。花器として飾るだけでなく、子どもの作品、季節の装飾、メッセージを添えた贈り物など、使う人の創造性によって新たな表情と物語が生まれます。

By combining the sharp, refined appearance of aluminum with the warmth of Japanese cedar, Re-shibo achieves a contemporary presence that blends naturally into living spaces. The latest version pairs aluminum with recycled cork.

The surface can be freely decorated with drawings or messages using specially designed art materials, and the design can be erased and redrawn. Beyond its function as a vase, Re-shibo can become a canvas for children’s artwork, seasonal decoration, or a personalized gift. Through the creativity of its user, each piece develops new expressions and stories over time.

Re-shiboは、端材を単に再利用するだけではなく、職人技術、素材、遊び、コミュニケーションを結び直す試みです。sanodesignでは、企業の製造工程から生まれる端材や余剰素材、地域に眠る加工技術を見立て直し、商品、ノベルティ、ワークショップ、ブランド活動へ展開する企画を行っています。

Re-shibo is not simply an exercise in reusing scrap material. It is an attempt to reconnect craftsmanship, materials, play, and communication. At sanodesign, we reinterpret offcuts and surplus materials generated through manufacturing, along with locally rooted production techniques, and develop them into products, promotional items, workshops, and broader brand initiatives.
